Celebrate!

This is Dawn and Caleb Murray, the first couple who were married in St. Clare's Chapel and hosted their reception at the Centennial Barn in June of 2010. Since then we have hosted many other couples on their joyful day.  While we have dozens of weddings booked for 2011, we still may have space for you!

For more infomation about celebrating your union in a sacred, pastoral setting visit:  www.mycincinnatichapel.com/StClareChapel.html or call  Cecilia Rose at Eventurous, 513-841-1500.

In addition to Weddings, we host:

  • Board Meetings
  • Professional Development Workshops
  • Day long and weekend retreats
  • Fundraisers
  • Art Exhibits
  • Film Screenings
  • Writing Workshops
  • Yoga Classes
  • Massage Services

These upcoming events are open to the public and help local people raise money for good works here and abroad.

  • The Black and Red Ball on Saturday December 4th to raise money for local families in need through local charities and the Salvation Army.  Dinner, music and dancing.  Open Bar.  Tickets are $25 each or $45/couple.  Call 513-761-1697 for more information.
  • BLOOM Africa, an organization that exists to provide resources to orphans in support of their basic life’s needs through sustainable projects, educational programming and financial support by collaborating with the people of African nations, will be hosting fundraiser on Saturday December 11th.

The Franciscan Gardens

The Franciscan Community Gardens have grown by leaps and bounds in 2010. In addition to the 61 individual plots in the neighborhood gardens, we have a communal garden farmed by a local Bhutanese refugee community.

We have an "entrepreneurial garden" for urban residents sponsored by the Findlay Market Urban Farmers Program. Visit www.findlaymarket.org for more information.

The harvest from our 2000 square foot food pantry garden will be distributed through Su Casa which is run by Catholic Charities

As last year, we will provide Our Lady of the Woods with fresh produce and we plan to make additional donations of thousands of pounds of produce!

The involvement of the Bhutanese refugee community has facilitated an ongoing collaboration with Catholic Social Services. Currently we are working on a grant with Catholic Charities to underwrite the cost of refugee gardening.

We have made every effort to make the Franciscan Gardens Community accessable and friendly!

The Sponsors

The sponsors of the Centennial Barn and its activities, as well as the Franciscan Gardens and its activities are the Franciscan Sisters of the Poor. They are an international/multi-cultural religious congregation founded in 1845 by Blessed Frances Schervier in Aachen, Germany. They work primarily in health care, pastoral ministry, and social services in Brazil, Italy, Senegal, the Philippines and the United States.

Ministries include health care, pastoral care, and social service with abused women and children, those who are homeless and persons with AIDS. We are also involved in retreat ministry and spiritual direction. To learn more, visit our website:
